How do I insert a running head and page number in Microsoft Word?

I can insert the header and everything. However when I go to insert the page number in the upper right hand corner it erases my header that I just typed. The page number is the only thing included. I’m trying to do this in APA style. So I’m not sure what to do.

Enter (or edit) the header, insert a RIGHT tab at the right margin, tab, insert the page number variable.
