10k run training

How do you train for a 10k. Do you have to be able to run 6.2 miles every day?
I am trying to train for a local 10k but have never trained for an event this long. I can easily finish 1 and 1/2 miles and working to get the second mile down. I have lots of hill and can’t afford a tread mill at the moment. Should you be able to run the 6 plus miles every day or just occasionaly.
The most important thing is to train smart and give yourself rest days to recover from your workouts. You would not want to run 6.2 miles everyday, especially since you are just starting out. You might try building up your weekly mileage base gradually and adding a longer run on the weekend. For example, since you can easily cover 1 and 1/2 miles, you could run these distances two to three times a week and adding a long run on the weekend. Since you are trying to cover 2 miles now, that could be your first long run Then you can build from there by gradually increasing your shorter daily runs and your longer run on the weekend once you get use to covering these distances.
I would suggest running every other day since you are just startng out so you will get plenty of rest and to keep you motivated. Then, build your long run to the 10k distance or more. Be patient and allow your body to get used to running and you should do just fine.
